Security payment

For products of a popular brand, whose counterfeits are often found on the market, you can activate the “Original” service only after:

• passing the verification of documents confirming your exclusive right to the trademark (copyright holder, licensee, sublicensee);
• making a security payment to confirm your guarantee of the right to sell products under the brand and the absence of infringement of third-party intellectual property rights.

A security payment is required for each brand you wish to display with a badge. If the brand isn’t one of the popular or frequently counterfeited brands on Ozon, you can add the “Original” badge for a fee after document verification.

Calculate the amount of the security payment

The security payment amount is equal to 3% on the total amount of all branded product orders over the year, taking into account discounts at the seller’s expense, and excluding cancellations and returns, but not less than 100,000 rubles and not more than 1,250,000 rubles if the contract currency is rubles.

Minimum and maximum value for other currencies:

The amount of the security payment will be displayed in Brand Documents.

If there are sufficient funds in your account, the amount will be debited automatically after confirmation.

Deposit the security payment

In your account, in the Products → Brand Documents section, select the brand

The system will automatically calculate the security payment amount:

1. Calculate your brand turnover in the contract currency.
2. Compare the resulting value with the minimum and maximum payment amounts for that currency.
3. Convert the final amount to rubles at the Central Bank of the Russian Federation exchange rate in effect on the payment date.

If the amount of funds on your balance is higher than the security payment amount in rubles, the debit will be successful.

The security payment will be valid for the next 365 days. There is a separate security payment for each popular and frequently counterfeited brand.

Security payment penalties

Ozon verifies the authenticity of products from popular and frequently counterfeited brands. Upon receipt of a complaint, we will notify you first. You have 14 calendar days to respond and provide documents confirming the authenticity of the product or withdraw your complaint.

If a product has been complained about and you are unable to prove its authenticity, we will deduct the payment towards the penalty in the following amounts:

• Full payment: in the case of a complaint from a government agency. In this case, the “Original” badge will become unavailable and cannot be restored.
• 25%: in the case of a complaint from the copyright holder or the customer, or after an internal review.

To appeal, please provide documents or withdraw your claim within 14 calendar days.

If the entire security payment is exhausted, we will automatically remove the “Original” badge.

If you have previously incurred penalties that resulted in the security payment being fully exhausted, you will not be able to make a new security payment or activate the “Original” badge for one year.

Withdraw the remaining payment

Either you or Ozon can initiate a refund of your security payment.

You can request a refund of your security payment at any time, for example, if you want to disable the “Original” badge on your brand products. You can withdraw the remaining security payment once two conditions are met simultaneously:

• the 21-day waiting period for checking for violations has expired from the time you requested your refund. If Ozon sends a notice of violation before the refund period expires, the period is extended by the arbitration period;
• two months have passed since the payment was made.

You will receive your funds on the next payment date.

Ozon may initiate a refund of the security payment or its remaining part upon the simultaneous fulfillment of two conditions:

• two months have passed since the payment was made;
• less than 21 calendar days has passed since the occurrence of one of the events listed below:
  • you have provided documents confirming your exclusive rights to the trademark as the copyright holder, licensee, or sublicensee;
  • the terms of the “Original” service for the brand have changed. In this case, we will disable the service. Reactivate the service under the new terms.

After the refund of the security payment, you can reactivate the “Original” badge for a fee upon providing the necessary brand documentation.
