Order Packaging Requirements

General requirements

  • Make sure that the package content can’t be accessed, and that the package or container are undamaged, dry and clean.
  • Consider specific product characteristics, so that cargo doesn’t break or damage other shipments in the process of shipment and delivery.
  • Pack the protruding shipment parts separately.
  • Stack products as tightly as possible so that the contents don’t move inside the package: fill the empty space with paper or newspaper.
  • Check that the shipping carton shows no traces of old markings, and that all handling marks are up-to-date.
  • Pack dangerous items in separate boxes.
  • Label markings and manipulative signs for cargo with special storage and transportation conditions and attach the rules for handling such shipments.
  • Print out the label from your Ozon personal account and stick it on the packaging. Label requirements:
    • Size: 12×7.5 cm. Some shipping providers have their own requirements.
    • Printed on a thermal printer or on a thermal transfer printer.
    • Matte or semi-gloss surface.
    • Printed as a single label: the shipping provider can’t accept a shipment with a torn or multi-fragment marking.
    • Attached to the largest side of the package.
    • Attached to the package entirely, with no gaps or unglued areas.
    • Barcode isn’t taped.
    • Doesn’t compromise the product’s appearance, including its original packaging.
For operations in your warehouses, use only the top barcode. We use the lower barcode to register products in our internal systems for identification, accounting, and product delivery to the customer.
  • Mark shipments with fragile products inside with the “Fragile. Do not drop” label. If the product is damaged during delivery, the customer can return it and leave a negative review. Fragile products are:
    • glass and ceramic molds, mirrors, chandeliers;
    • figurines, vases;
    • tableware, for example, mugs, glass and ceramic cups, glass lids;
    • coffee in glass jars;
    • tea in ceramic containers;
    • any liquid products in glass containers without individual packaging;
    • photo frames, clocks, paintings in glass frames without individual packaging;
    • ceramic knives without individual packaging;
    • electronics: phones, smartphones, tablets, communicators, recorders, navigators, hard drives, e-books, digital photo frames.

Packaging requirements for potentially dangerous products

When shipping potentially dangerous products, pay extra attention to integrity and tightness of their packaging:

  • The outer packaging should be sturdy, prevent mechanical impact and access to the contents.
  • The inner packaging components should be additionally protected with cushioning materials.
  • The packaging shouldn’t have leakage or damage marks.
  • Liquid containers should be positioned vertically, lids or stoppers should be tightly closed or sealed. The outside of the package should have the “This way up” signs indicating direction towards which the packaging should be stored.
  • Hazard symbols, signal words, or warning labels on products indicating the fragile contents or the hazard type should be on the outer packaging.
  • Devices and equipment with rechargeable batteries should have switch protection to prevent accidental triggering.
  • Batteries in the package should be insulated to prevent short circuits. Contact with any liquids, metal objects, and other materials or substances that are conductors of electric current should be avoided.

A cardboard box with a wooden frame (plank) around shipment, with side inserts made of wooden slats, plywood, sheet cardboard. Fill the internal fragile elements with bubble wrap or filler. Pack the external product elements in a protective bubble wrap. Fill the space between the cargo and the walls of the box. Don’t forget to stick a “Fragile. Do not drop” label. If the product may be damaged by water, wrap it in a white matte or black opaque stretch wrap first

Pack the products in a reinforced box in a strictly upright position. The terminals or outlet ports must be facing up. The packaging must have manipulation marks and the “Top” label.		 ✓

Insulate the terminals by covering them with a non-conductive insulating material. Place the product in a transparent plastic sealed bag.

Bubble wrap can leave traces on reflective and polished surfaces. For packaging such products, we recommend using foamed polyethylene.

If there are products in the shipment that can’t be folded into one package, divide the order into several shipments. For example, if there is a washing powder and a kettlebell in the order, divide products into two shipments. Package laundry detergent in a safe bag, and the kettlebell in a stretch wrap.

Additional packaging

Package your orders securely and compactly. A large amount of packaging may affect the product volumetric weight.

Some products need additional packaging so that they aren’t damaged.

If the product is damaged during delivery, the customer can return it and leave a negative review. To prevent this, carefully package each product:

  1. Wrap the whole product in several layers of foamed polyethylene, polyethylene, or bubble wrap. Tape the product edges.

  2. Cover the protruding product parts with corners made of plastic, cardboard, or foam.

  3. Make stiffeners made of foam or cardboard in the package.

  4. On the sides of the box, fix the cardboard corners.

  5. Pack the product in a cardboard package made of five-layer cardboard.

  6. Securely lock the product in the box. Put a filler between the product and the walls of the box: paper, foam, or corrugated cardboard. Additionally, close the fragile parts, such as the screen.

    Shake the box slightly. The product shouldn’t move inside, and its parts shouldn’t bump against each other and the edges of the package.

  7. If the product is fragile:

    • Label it “Fragile cargo”.
    • Apply a warning inscription: “Fragile. Handle with care”, “Keep dry”, “Do not step”.
    • Stick a red or yellow adhesive tape.
    • Specify where the top of the product is.
